Richard Herre

Richard Herre was born in 1885 and studied architecture in Stuttgart and Munich. In particular, before the First World War, he formed close friendships with artists from the Hölzel circle and leading figures of modernism such as Oskar Schlemmer and Willi Baumeister. He was a member of the artists' association "Üecht," for which he served as press officer. Along with Richard Döcker, Hugo Keuerleber, and Gustav Schleicher, he became a champion of New Objectivity.

As a member of the German Werkbund, he participated in the Werkbund exhibition "Die Wohnung," specifically the Weissenhof estate in Stuttgart, in 1927. He did not contribute a building here, but devised the interior architecture of the house designed by Max Taut, and his work was considered an imaginative contribution to modernism.
